Why not dominus? (to the question about titulation roman emperors of the I century)
The article is devoted to the consideration of the titulature of the Roman emperors and to finding out the reasons for the disapproving attitude of the princeps, who entered the historical tradition as "good", to the naming of their dominus. The author examines the context of the use of the word dominus in the works of Suetonius and Tacitus and comes to the conclusion that the most common are its three meanings. The first is dominus as the master, the owner of something (a slave, a horse, an insula, an estate, etc.), the second is the lord of the world, found in the description of favorable signs for a princeps, and the third is the ruler, the sovereign, who is the master in relation to all the inhabitants of the state. It is the latter meaning that is perceived as an imperial title. The author comes to the conclusion that in the first century AD, the title dominus was stubbornly resisted by the principles that cared about their image and sought to preserve the appearance of a republican system. The ancient tradition associates the approval of the conversion of dominus with those rulers who "neglected" republican institutions and openly demonstrated their power.
Key words: Roman Empire, principate, Julian-Claudian dynasty, Flavian dynasty, titulature of Roman emperors, dominus, princeps.

Law and outrage: the role of parliamentary practice in forming the legal consciousness of English society late medieval
The English Parliament, which arose both due to the general historical trends of the European Middle Ages, and due to the peculiarities of the development of the state and society in England, carried out extensive and varied activities, one of the effects of which was to increase the legal consciousness and legal culture of society. This effect, which seems to us extremely important, is closely related to the formation of the system of parliamentarism as such, but it is not limited to its framework, influencing all spheres of life in late medieval England.
Key words: medieval England, Parliament, House of Commons, House of Lords, petitions, law, legal consciousness, legal culture, arbitrariness.

The close surveillance of the Kaluga gendarmes of the members of the Kaluga Committee of the RSDLP nullified attempts to organize rallies directly in the city. The general police were used by the provincial authorities as active bayonets of the punitive machine of the Kaluga province to disperse the demonstrators. On the question of the organizational structure, personnel composition and equipment of the bodies of the workers 'and peasants' militia of the Kaluga province in 1919-1920
The article considers the organizational structure of the workers 'and peasants' militia bodies formed in the first years of Soviet power. It is noted that the police were created in the difficult conditions of the Civil War, which entailed the militarization of law enforcement agencies. At the same time, the main task of the police was, not allowing the fall of the young Soviet republic, to fight crime in every possible way in the urban area, rural areas, and transport. The authors provide data describing the number of personnel of the police of the Kaluga province, its equipment, pay attention to the statistics of offenses committed during the study period, concluding that the total detection rate of various crimes by the police was 43%. The content of the analyzed sources allows us to state that the quality of the work of law enforcement agencies was affected by an acute shortage of experienced personnel in particular, and personnel in general, since the Kaluga police were mobilized to fight counter-revolutionary insurgents in other regions in the 1919-1920's.

Agitational and revolutionary orientation of theatrical art in the socio-cultural life of the provincial city of Kaluga in the context of the relationship between society and government in the years of the new economic policy
In the article, based on the available sources and literature, an attempt is made to analyze the agitational and revolutionary orientation of theatrical art in the socio-cultural life of the provincial city of Kaluga during the implementation of the new economic policy in 1921-1928. The author concluded, that during this period, the theatrical life in Kaluga did not fade, but on the contrary, actively developed, the young Soviet drama entered the stage, designed to react to the changing socio-political situation in the country by theatrical means, to draw attention to the pressing problems of the day. This can be seen in the examples of the activities of the Kaluga City Theater and the « Theater of Revolutionary Satire» that existed in 1921-1922, then renamed the Revtheater. A great help for the organization of the theatrical life of Kaluga in terms of training young personnel was the activity of the State Theater Technical School, established in 1922.

Ethnic factor in the economy of the region: according to the materials of the Kaluga province
The article attempts to analyze the socio-economic situation in the Kaluga province at the end of the 19th – beginning of the 20th centuries, through the study of the ethnic picture of the region, the development of agriculture in conditions of land scarcity and infertility of land, the transition, in some counties, to handicraft and industrial production, the practice of seasonal work. The purpose of the study was achieved and substantiations were given regarding the correlation of certain types of occupation with a particular nationality, to a greater or lesser extent. For the Kaluga land, taking into account the predominance of representatives of the East Slavic culture, the development of the economy is characteristic without a sharp division between ethnic groups. There is a widespread practice of integration and assimilation. Economic development is under the influence of the indigenous population, the role of migrants is insignificant.
Key words: Kaluga province, ethnic economy, occupation group, population census, trade routes, industry, craft, seasonal work, factories, factories, indigenous population, migrants.
