Transformations in the translation of article titles in English
The article is devoted to the comparative analysis of the use of interlingual rearrangements, the so-called transformations, in the process of translating headlines of newspaper texts into Russian from English. When using such transformations, a specialist translator should take into account the key functions of headlines in order to convey the content of a foreign text as accurately as possible, since the target language often has no direct analogues of lexical units that could be used to convey information. The article reveals the peculiarities of applying translation transformations and techniques of transforming the elements of the source text in the process of translating the headlines of print and online media publications, identifies the most frequently and uncommonly used techniques, and outlines their role in conveying the nuances of meaning.
Key words: translation transformations, translation of article titles, translating language, grammatical substitutions, omission, addition, modulation.

Iron anchors with a rod in the ancient written tradition
The article is devoted to the study of the use and mention of iron anchors in the texts of ancient authors, as well as the analysis of archaeological finds confirming their existence. The work examines major written sources, such as the works of Homer, the works of the Greek historians Herodotus and Strabo, and Roman authors including Pliny the Elder and Julius Caesar. These sources give an idea of rollers and an explanation of anchors in navigation at that time. Iron anchors with a rod are often mentioned in the ancient written tradition as important tools of navigation. These anchors, made of iron, were the most important elements for ensuring the safety of ships at anchorage.
Also, special attention in the works of ancient authors is paid to the sacred and symbolic meaning of the anchor for ancient shipping. Indirectly, ancient authors mention the important role of the anchor in their works and retelling of ancient Greek myths. The anchor is not a central element of ancient mythology, so it does not receive much attention in the story. It plays an important role in the symbolism and context of navigation. Mentions of anchors in myths and legends, as well as in the texts of historians, emphasize their importance as a symbol of stability, reliability and protection, which was critically important for ancient sailors. The article examines how metal anchors were described in myths and legends, symbolizing stability and reliability.
Thus, the author, based on an analysis of ancient texts, shows the importance of the iron anchor for the ancient Greeks.
Key words: anchor, metal anchor, rod, symbolism, sign, religious ritual, antiquity, Ancient Greece, shipping, ancient writing, Greek writers, mythology.

Military-political cooperation of Mongolia and Russia in the XX century
Based on the analysis of archival and published legal documents of the Mongolian and Russian states, the article identifies the historical stages of the origin and development of Mongolian-Russian military-political cooperation in the 20th century.
The purpose of the scientific research is the author's substantiation of the stages of formation and development of military-political ties between Mongolia and Russia in the past century. Using the regulatory framework and an extensive amount of published materials, the author in the presented publication covered in detail the military-political and diplomatic aspects of the long, decades-long history of relations between Mongolia and Russia.
The geographical location of Mongolia and its proximity to the Russian Federation and China determine the significant role that this country plays in the development of the entire Asia-Pacific region. The practice of historical relations between Mongolia and Russia in the twentieth century confirms the thesis that Mongolian-Russian cooperation occupied an important place in the politics of the Soviet Union and significantly influenced the situation in the Far Eastern region. Returning and rethinking the experience of relations between the Mongolian People's Republic and the USSR is important for both Mongolian and Russian historiography and will undoubtedly be in demand for the development and strengthening of modern relations between both countries in the 21st century.
During the Second World War and in the post-war period, relations between Russia/USSR and Mongolia/Mongolian People's Republic intensified significantly and were at the peak of cooperation between the two states. A striking manifestation of Soviet-Mongolian cooperation in the military field were the events on the river. Khalkhin Gol 1939. At the end of the twentieth century, relations between the two friendly states experienced periods of rapprochement and distance, rise and decline. The crisis of political and economic interaction directly affected the military cooperation of the two states. Its sharp decline led to the intensification of Mongolia's military ties with other countries, primarily with the United States and its allies, which did not live up to the hopes placed on them by Mongolia.
Therefore, already in the new millennium, at the beginning of the 21st century, both in Mongolia and the Russian Federation there was renewed interest in cooperation not only in the sphere of economic policy, but also in the military field, as well as in the development of science and culture. Long-term and diverse relations between the Mongolian and Russian states on an equal basis have received a new impetus. However, this stage is in the nature of a fundamentally new bilateral cooperation and requires a separate study.
Thus, the relevance of studying the different historical stages of relations between Mongolia/MPR and Russia/USSR in the military-political sphere is determined by a number of conditions and factors – geographical, political, economic, military, social, cultural, etc. The lessons that history teaches us cannot be considered a direct guide to action, however, it is necessary to understand and take into account existing historical analogies that shed light on the possible consequences of comparable circumstances and conditions, which allows us to avoid mistakes and ill-considered actions at the present stage of development.
Key words: Russian Empire, Soviet Russia (RSFSR), USSR, Red Army, Mongolia, Mongolian People's Republic (MPR), Mongolian People's Revolutionary Army (MPRA), China, Mongolian-Russian relations and connections, military cooperation between Russia and Mongolia.

On the issue of calculations of the cargo capacity of merchant ships in grain and amphorae by Heron
This article examines the calculation methodology used by Heron of Alexandria to determine the cargo capacity of merchant ships carrying grain and amphorae. The main attention is paid to the analysis of Heron's works, including his “Partitional Books,” as well as a comparison of these methods with modern approaches. The article includes textual analysis of ancient sources, archaeological data and modern research on ancient shipbuilding and trade. Through mathematical modeling and historical contextual analysis, the study seeks to reconstruct the methods used by Heron and evaluate their accuracy and practical applicability.
The author of the work analyzes and describes in detail Heron’s methods for calculating the capacity of ships, and also provides examples of the application of these methods in practice. Heron of Alexandria, a prominent Greek engineer and mathematician of the 1st century AD, left a significant legacy in the field of science and technology. One of his important works is a treatise in which he examines issues of measurement and calculation, including the cargo capacity of merchant ships.
The significance of his methods was not only that they assisted in load planning, but also in optimizing space on board. This has made maritime trade more efficient and secure. Today, Heron's calculations are the only correct ones of all the attempts of ancient mathematicians. They allow modern researchers to better understand the principles of ancient maritime trade and logistics. Heron's work influenced modern calculations of the compatibility of merchant ships.
Key words: Heron's calculations, antiquity, Ancient Greece, merchant ships, Greek ships, cargo capacity of ships, maritime trade, registry books, amphora, grain, ancient mathematics.

On the issue of the Phanagorian regression of the Black Sea
The article is devoted to the issue of the Phanagorian regression of the Black Sea. In modern science, there is no consensus on the time period in which the regression of the Black Sea occurred and whether there was actually a decrease in water level. Phanagorian regression is a scientific theory that some researchers support, others refute. The author of the work describes the available research results, including the analysis of fauna from soil cores. The results of the analysis show a significant change in the salt composition of the Black Sea, which indicates its isolation for a certain time period.
During the regression, the water level in the Black Sea decreased by 5-6 meters, while in the Mediterranean Sea, most likely, it did not exceed 3 meters.
The work focuses on the fact that the Phanagorian regression was caused by a combination of global climate changes and tectonic processes. This article examines the main factors that influenced the regression, as well as its consequences. Research shows that changing sea levels have led to the formation of new sedimentary basins, changes in coastlines and significant environmental transformations. Analysis of paleoclimatic data and tectonic activity of that period helps to better understand the mechanisms of interaction between climatic and geological processes.
Analysis of paleoclimatic data and tectonic activity of that period helps to better understand the mechanisms of interaction between climatic and geological processes. The results obtained are important for modern climate change research, as they allow us to predict possible scenarios for future changes and their impact on coastal zones. Thus, the study of the Phanagorian regression contributes to expanding knowledge about the geological history of the Earth and developing adaptation strategies to changing climatic conditions.
Key words: Black Sea, Mediterranean Sea, sea level changes, Phanagorian regression, Greek colonization, Neogene, climate change, tectonic processes, sedimentary processes, fauna.

Research activities at the artillery academy during the Great Patriotic War
Objective of the study. To analyze the research work at the Artillery Academy during the Great Patriotic War. The relevance of the topic is due to the importance of the period in history under consideration, when the whole country was drawn into the war, many military educational institutions changed their locations, including the Academy. Research methods: analytical, scientific, cause-and-effect, historical-systemic. Key findings: the most effective results in research work were achieved by the teaching staff of the Academy during the Great Patriotic War in terms of developing and publishing a large number of educational literature, reference books, brief service manuals, tables, memos and other teaching aids, as well as in terms of studying captured weapons and especially ammunition. This indicates that the Academy did not lose its importance as a scientific center during the war. Due to the lack of the necessary production base, it could not compete with large design bureaus of the Ministry of Armaments in conducting experimental design work to create new types of weapons.
Key words: Great Patriotic War, artillery, artillery academy, research work.

Daily life of merchant fleet seamen in the domestic periodical press of the second half of the XIX - early XX centuries
The pages of the existence of the Russian merchant fleet have a centuries-old history. Not only the numerous exploits of the sailors are interesting, but also their everyday life, full of interesting events and facts. On the pages of pre-revolutionary periodicals there are publications of different genres dedicated to the "Russian workers of the sea". This is a whole gallery of images created with varying degrees of expressiveness, memorable for their unusualness, eccentricity, then characteristic, typicality and allowing to objectively convey the diversity of shades of character of people associated with the sea. Using the potential of periodicals as a historical source can lead to a richer and more subtle understanding of the history of the merchant fleet. The works of contemporaries offer a unique and multifaceted view of the past, supplementing traditional historical sources and improving the understanding of historical processes.

Organization structures of the Russian communist party of the Bolsheviks (RCP(B)/all - union communist party of the Bolsheviks RCP (B)) in a new economic policy village
The article examines the state and activities of the primary (rural) organizations of the RCP (b) / AUCP (b) during the New Economic Policy (NEP) period. The methodological “core” of the study is based on the hypothesis of the crisis of rural party cells in the years of the new economic policy. The article reviews the party’s lower-level relationships with its governing structures, councils, cooperatives, public mutual aid committees, and the peasant “world” (community). An analysis of the activities of the party cells, methods of creation thereof, and perception thereof by the peasant population is presented. The social profile, service motivation, and organizational competencies of rural party members are described. The crisis that disorganized the grassroots party organizations at the turn of 1920/1921 was not overcome in the years of the NEP. The study notes the regularity of the crisis, specifies its causes, manifestations, and the mechanism of its development. The party cells were an institutional element of “war communism”; they were dysfunctional in the NEP system.

Publications on the formation of the system of Soviet justice bodies in the 1920s in the "Weekly of Soviet Justice" and "Polar Truth"
After the Bolsheviks came to power, the dictatorship of the proletariat promoted by them required their own mass media, e.g. Pravda, Izvestiya All-Russian Central Executive Committee, etc.
In 1917, the Bolshevik departmental press was created - a network of newspapers of various governmental drug committees (People's Commissariats). On October 26, 1921 there appeared a specialized publication of the People's Commissariat of Justice of the RSFSR (hereinafter - People's Commissariat of Justice of the RSFSR) - "Bulletin of People's Commissariat of Justice". (Weekly of Soviet Justice).
During this period there was also a demand for regional press, which was an ideological tool for the formation of a new consciousness of the Soviet citizen. Polarnaya Pravda, a regional print edition published in Murmansk province, was such a newspaper.
In this article we will analyze the publications in the "Weekly of Soviet Justice" and "Polarnaya Pravda" devoted to the activities of the People's Commissariat of Justice of the RSFSR in general, and the process of formation of the RSFSR justice bodies in the 1920s, in particular.
The analysis of the publications allows us to study the topics of the main discussions, opinions of figures of the Soviet authorities, etc., devoted to the formation of republican and local justice institutes in the Kola North.
