Abstract
Tereshina E.A.
Monopolism of digital corporations as a threat to national security: problems and prospects

The purpose of the study is to identify the specifics of the activities of digital transnational companies (hereinafter referred to as TNCs), associated with their monopoly of the digital space. The author defines the following research objectives: 1) identify the main threats to national security in the context of digitalization of society; 2) study the features of the activities of digital companies; 3) assess the opportunities and risks of monopoly of digital companies and their impact on ensuring the national security of the state.

Against the backdrop of the digitalization of society, the scientific community is reconsidering the role and significance of transnational companies in global politics and economics. The influence of TNCs on important political decisions in a particular state is expanding. Digital corporations are becoming key political actors and major economic entities.

The role of digital TNCs in the system of ensuring national security is ambiguous. On the one hand, TNCs and national states become dependent on each other, and cooperation between the two key players on issues of ensuring national security is obvious. On the other hand, a situation is emerging that transnational companies are ousting the state from the political arena. The state is gradually losing its role as a leading political player, and global corporations, on the way to realizing their economic interests, willingly use levers of power, sometimes neglecting the true national interests of a particular state. The authors see the solution to the problem of ensuring national security in limiting the monopoly of digital companies in the economic and political spheres, as well as in the state’s desire to develop effective anti-monopoly mechanisms for regulating the activities of TNCs.

Keywords: globalization, digitalization, national security, threat, transnational corporation, digital company, monopoly.

Vietnam's "Bamboo" Diplomacy in Ensuring Security in the Asia-Pacific Region

The study of bamboo diplomacy occurs in the analysis of Vietnam's strategic foreign policy and its implementation in relations with the Russian Federation, the United States and China in the period from 2018 to 2023, at a time when the world was at the peak of its instability and events such as the trade war between the United States took place and China, the economic crisis due to the coronavirus pandemic and the outbreak of conflict in Ukraine. Vietnamese bamboo diplomacy suggests that the state should firmly pursue national interests, advocate for the peaceful resolution of disputes, rather than an alliance with any country against another country. In practice, Vietnamese-Russian relations are developing steadily, with relatively high political trust. Relations between Vietnam and the United States are going through a favorable period of development, especially in the economic field, despite the consequences of the Vietnam War. Vietnam-China relations are also in good condition, especially economic cooperation, despite territorial disputes in the South China Sea. Russia, China and the United States are Vietnam's comprehensive strategic partners. Vietnam is trying to maintain a relative balance in relations with great powers and ensure peace and stability in the region for its development.

A historical-theoretical analysis of China’s economic rise

With the fall of the Berlin Wall, the end of the Cold War, shadowed by nuclear weapons, and the collapse of the Soviet Union as a result of the great economic collapse, the world was brought under the rule of the West. The People's Republic of China, which has a communist regime like the Soviet Union, has kept its economy alive by opening up to the outside world with the economic reforms it has carried out since 1976 to create a liberal economic model, and has saved itself from experiencing an economic collapse like the Soviet Union.

Russian-Iranian cooperation in the field of nuclear energy: problems and prospects for further development

This article discusses cooperation between Russia and Iran in the field of nuclear energy, highlights the specifics of the implementation of peaceful atom and concerns about nuclear security. Moreover, in this scientific paper the authors draw attention to the prospects for cooperation between these countries, including the expansion of projects for the construction of facilities in the field of nuclear energy, taking into account the historical context of Iran's nuclear program. At the same time Russia promotes the development of bilateral cooperation between the countries in the field of peaceful nuclear energy. At the present stage Iran is already carrying out a set of measures to create future nuclear facilities, as the peaceful atom is constantly being modernized, improved and increasingly used in various spheres of society.

In the context of expanding multilateral cooperation between Russia and Iran, nuclear energy can serve as another link in our international relations. Besides, decades of the sanctions regime against Iran have shown the whole world that nuclear facilities and infrastructure can develop without Western participation.

Keywords: nuclear power, peaceful atom, Russian-Iranian cooperation, nuclear power plant, nuclear program.

ASEAN-China cooperation: problems and prospects

On the traditional views of Chinese philosophers on the nature of foreign policy

The article considers the traditional ideas of Chinese philosophers on the nature of foreign policy of the People’s Republic of China (PRC). The relevance of the study is defined by the problem of misunderstanding by the Western world of the thought of China’s contemporary model and foreign policy actions of the Chinese leadership. We believe that such a model can also contribute to a clearer understanding of what kind of world order China is building. The contemporary Chinese leadership is attempting to maintain a stable, uninterrupted and continuous connection with the original Confucian and then Neo-Confucian tradition, uses and introduces into political discourse the ideas, concepts and formulations of ancient Chinese philosophers and implements them in its foreign policy course. The purpose of the article is to reveal the conditionality of traditional ideas of Chinese thinkers about the nature of foreign policy. The objectives of the study are, firstly, to consider the traditional culture of China, which is characterized by the continuity of development and incorporated into the modern PRC policy; secondly, to substantiate the traditional approach in China’s foreign policy; thirdly, to show the approaches of ancient Chinese philosophers to the ideas of «Harmony in diversity», «Tianxia», «Gongsheng», «Communicability», et al. The main scientific approach of the research is civilizational. It allows us to identify the fundamental features of China’s material and spiritual culture as the most important source of the sustainable originality of China’s foreign policy thought. We conclude that even nowadays the Chinese leadership led by Chairman Xi Jinping is making special efforts to deepen interconnectedness and rapprochement with its people.

Keywords: China, traditional political culture, «Tianxia», Confucius, ideological bases, strategy.

Prospects for trade and economic cooperation between Russia and the DPRK in modern geopolitical realities

For many years after the collapse of the USSR and the transition of the Russian economy to market tracks there was a decline in Russian-North Korean cooperation in both economic and political spheres. Nevertheless, the special military operation of the Russian Federation in Ukraine that began in February 2022 and the implementation of the Russian policy of " Russia's turn to the East" forced the country's leadership to reconsider its policy towards the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. Pyongyang became one of the few actors in the international stage who openly supported Moscow, which stimulated a new round of development of bilateral economic relations under the sanctions regime.

While writing this scientific paper, the authors will try to analyses the prospects for Russian-North Korean cooperation in the field of building economic and trade ties, taking into account the current situation on both the Korean peninsula and the world arena.

Keywords: DPRK (North Korea), Russia, economic cooperation, security, balance of power, Korean peninsula, sanctions, trade, Russian-North Korean cooperation.
