Geopolitical adventure: the price of a foreign policy miscalculation in history
History can be presented in different ways. However, no matter what model of presentation of the course of events of the past, which led precisely to this image of the present, the historian chooses, he cannot but assess the most important geopolitical decisions, which in many ways turned the course of history. Unfortunately, the choice was not always distinguished by thoughtfulness and calculation of possible consequences. Often statesmen, making foreign policy decisions, proceeded from overestimating their own strengths and underestimating the strength of their rival. These actions can be classified as geopolitical adventures, of which there are many in history.
Key words: history, international relations, geopolitics, war, statesman, strategy, adventure.

Problems of studying the events of June 17, 1953 in the GDR. Historiographic analysis
The article is devoted to the historiographic analysis of the events that took place on June 17, 1953 in the GDR. An analysis of Russian and foreign historiography is given, on the basis of which the main discrepancies between the authors are revealed. The problems of studying this topic are analyzed, topics on which no consensus has been reached among researchers are identified. The study of topics requiring further study in historical science is given. The phenomenon of the events of June 17, 1953 as a protest phenomenon is considered, the versatility and pluralism of opinions regarding a certain event is shown, in this case, the massive anti-government demonstrations in the GDR in June 1953. The author reveals the pluralism of opinions, different approaches to assessments and methods, which lead to a situation where, with a sufficiently solid narrative, there is no “agreement” on numerous issues and designations. The importance of this event for the further development of internal political processes, international relations and the growing discontent with the authorities of the GDR is analyzed. It also shows the importance of the principle of objectivity in historical research, according to which each phenomenon must be studied in its contradictoriness and versatility, considering from different angles at the same time.
Key words: events of June 17, 1953, international relations, the GDR, anti-government protests, historiographic analysis.

The phenomenon of historical memory
This article attempts to make a theoretical understanding of historical memory, which originates from the components of national identity, in which the historical experience of the genesis and existence of the ethnic is recorded and handed over to the descendants. The author identifies a number of features of historical memory, shows the impact of many factors that lead to the re-evaluation of values – social, cultural, and ideological. In the theory and practice of national relations, this problem is extremely important both in theoretical and cognitive terms and in practical terms: it allows us to show to what extent national identity, historical memory, changes the state and forms of ethno-national existence, affects the way of life of people of different ethnosocial affiliation.
During periods of sharp structural shifts, steep breaks of established traditional stereotypes and socio-spiritual orientations, the factor of ethno-social self-identification, which allows an individual to adapt to the conditions of a rapidly changing socio-psychological environment, becomes particularly important for modern Russia.
The prospects for the development of national consciousness of national-ethnic communities living in modern Russian society, and the use of foreign experience of national problems in relation to multi-ethnic communities remain white spots in the problems of national identity. Therefore, in the context of the ethnocultural revival of peoples and their increased interest in the national origins of their existence, the need to study changes in national identity that affect modern ethnopolitical and ethno-cultural processes is of particular importance. One of the forms of manifestation of national identity is the historical consciousness. Due to a certain stability and even conservatism of national consciousness, the historical memory of peoples is very strong and preserves the grievances inflicted on it, which in many ways complicate the solution of difficult problems of national life. The author tries to supplement the understanding of the phenomenon of historical memory and its role in the development of national identity.
The research methodology was based on the ontological principles of dialectics, which allowed us to present the problem as an interconnected and unified whole.
Key words: historical memory, self-consciousness, ethnos, people ethnosociogenesis, self-identity, historical consciousness.

Preliminary archaeological study of the stone age Crimea: to the historiography of the question
The article deals with the historiography of the formation of archeology of the Crimea as a component of scientific knowledge of Russia in the last quarter of the XIX century. It is emphasized that an important role in this process was played by socio-economic factors, activated after the reforms of the 1860s and scientific and organizational, in particular, getting archaeological sites in the sphere of attention of the most educated part of the public (K.S. Merezhkovsky, A.S. Uvarov). At this time, a network of local organizations and statistical committees for the study of the region was created (the Central place in the context of the subject of the article was occupied by the Tauric scientific archive Commission, formed in 1887). In 1899, the natural history Museum of the Tauric Provincial Zemstvo was opened, local history museums were established in other cities of the Tauric province. Gradually around these centers formed a group of researchers and lovers of antiquity. At the same time, the primitive archeology of the Crimea, being mainly on the periphery of scientific research, developed in the Crimea by the efforts of individual ascetics from science (a vivid example, K.S. Merezhkovsky).
General scientific prerequisite for the development of primitive archeology was also its theoretical rearmament, closely related to the formation of views in the field of natural science about the natural development, based on the methodology of evolutionism. Crimean researchers of the stone age, adhering to this methodology, focused on the idea of autochthonous, long-term, successive development of cultures, considered the basis of progress improvement of equipment and tools. Developing evolutionist ideas, scientists formulated the main objectives of archaeological knowledge in order to: rise to the level of creating a comprehensive doctrine of the evolution of primitive societies, their development and decline, their formation and transformation. At the same time, in the philosophical and historical context, the authors not only described and classified archaeological monuments and artifacts, but also sought to analyze them, aging their own system of views on the change of eras, cultures and individual stages, and in General on the prehistoric past of mankind.
However, in the last third of the XIX century in the development of history and historiography of the stone age of the Crimea in a practical sense manifested in the quantitative accumulation of archaeological sources for all periods of primitive archeology. Opened the first Paleolithic site (Volchiy grot, Kaczynski naves, Suren I, Kabazi), proved the antiquity of human existence on the Peninsula, discovered the first anthropological remains of the primitive age in the Crimea (Kaczynski naves), created the first generic classification of the instruments of the epoch of stone and the collection of archaeological collections (K.S. Merezhkovsky, and later A.S. Moiseev, N.N. Klepinin, N.A. Dubrovsky, N.G. Golovkinsky, D.I. Shcherbakov). At the same time, there was a certain lack of system in the study of archaeological monuments: by the beginning of the second decade of the twentieth century in the Crimean primitive archeology the process of classification of complexes of artifacts was not completed, typological rows of things in a relatively chronological sequence were not created, respectively, archaeological cultures were not allocated. In addition, there was no clear system of training of local specialists-archaeologists on primitive problems.
Key words: historiography, history of science and scientific direction, the stone age of the Crimea, prehistoric archaeology, prehistoric monument, a scientist's scientist.
