History is a tunnel in the dark. Is there light at the end of the tunnel?
The article reveals the ability of history as one of the most ancient humanities to respond flexibly and sensitively to all transformations of reality, helping to open the way to the future through awareness of the achievements and mistakes of the past. However, the past can be so dark that the road to the future is seen as a dead end. The diversity of approaches to the coverage of the past in historical science (meta-history, alternative history, intellectual history, etc.) gives researchers the opportunity to see the light at the end of the tunnel.
Key words: history, methodology, meta-history, alternative history, intellectual history, microhistory.

Ancient Roman time dimension and modern time management
In each new period of historical development, the past opens up new facets for people. In modern conditions, when the economy is becoming not only digital, but also human-oriented, practices of self-organization, in particular regarding time, are of particular importance. The article traces the rollback of time management with the ancient Roman system of calculating time.
Key words: time, ancient Rome, time management, self-organization, personal effectiveness.

Historical truth versus «post-truth»: on the issue of relations between the USSR and Germany on the eve of Hitler's aggression
The article uses the example of different interpretations of the Soviet-German non-aggression Pact to examine the antagonism between the concepts of «historical truth» and «post-truth». In practice, this antagonism turns into a confrontation between historians who defend the truth, and interpreters who substitute different myths and falsifications for historical reality. In addition, the article criticizes fabrications about the «preventive nature» of Nazi Germany's aggression against the Soviet Union.
Key words: historical truth, post-truth, myths and falsifications, world war II, German-Soviet non-aggression Pact, Hitlerite aggression, goals of German Nazism.

Romanian State in the Second World War
The article considers the main aspects of the foreign and domestic policy of the Romanian State during the Second World War and analyzes the factors that have become the reasons for the geopolitical choice of Romanian society at the corresponding segment of history. Of course, Romania is not the driving force behind the processes that led to the beginning of the Second World War - the country was simply drawn into a whirlwind of events caused by the opposition of several centres of geopolitical power, which in turn was the result of the imbalance of the Versailles World Order system. Synthesized Formed in the 19th century from several state entities, Romania by the outbreak of World War II was a relatively young state, claiming areas of neighbouring states with compact residence of Romanians. As a result of World War I, Romania acquired territories at the expense of Russia and Austria-Hungary, but in 1940 was forced to break up with these acquisitions under the pressure of Germany and the USSR, which caused an intra-Russian crisis that led to the establishment of Antonescu 's dictatorial regime, under which Romania, unable to eliminate its involvement in World War II, made its choice in favor of the Axis countries.
Key words: Romania, World War II, history.

Election Time - Call Time
The article discusses the multifaceted processes associated with the participation of citizens in elections at various levels. Since the procedure itself by choice crowns a period of active political struggle for the voter, such a struggle, exacerbating not only the political but also the psychological situation in the state, can be called a challenge. And for each call, an adequate answer should be formed. In the information age, a similar answer involves the creation of a favorable, rather than aggressive, information environment not only on the eve, during, but also after the election.
Key words: state, civil society, public policy, legitimacy, power, elections, challenge.

Article reveals the features of the organization of the Armed forces in the first year of Soviet power on the basis of the people's militia, by forming volunteer units and divisions, instead of the army, gendarmerie, police and other power structures of the old tsarist regime. The purpose of the study is to use the existing set of published and unpublished sources to highlight the problems faced by the country's political leadership in building a new type of army, abandoning the experience of previous generations. The memory of the Great Patriotic War as an object of power discourse in the post-Soviet space
“Wars of memory” are an indispensable attribute of the cultural life of society in all post-Soviet states. Moreover, in the near future, we should not expect their cessation and the development of any unified and consistent picture of the history of the Great Patriotic War. Therefore, such criteria as maintaining the ethical boundaries of discussion and reliance on historical sources are important. The article was based on a comparative analysis of commemoration practices in different countries using the achievements of Russian and foreign intellectual history and research in the history of social memory. In the course of the study, a typological variety of memorial practices that are combined into specific modes of memory of the war was revealed.
Key words: World War II, historical politics, historical memory, “memory wars”.
