The article analyzes the functioning of the international legal system of the self-determination of peoples. Some contradictions in the practical implementation of the right of peoples to self-determination and the right to territorial integrity of states are revealed. The authors leave some offers as how to eliminate the double standards in this case.
The article examines the real process of forming national ideology in the Russian Federation, the most common problems of its shaping. There is a brief analysis of widespread ideologies in this country. The author ponders over the national aims on establishment of powerful Russian state.
In the article the republics as ethnoterritorial constitutional entities in the modern federal arrangement of the Russian Federation are investigated. The constitutional basics of realization of an equality principle and self-determination of the people in Russia are covered. Ethnodemographic characteristics and ethnopolitical aspects of the status of these constitutional an “ethnic” component in the mechanism of the republics (attributive signs of the nation-building) and also ethnodemographic characteristics and ethnopolitical aspects of the status of these members of the Russian Federation are analysed.
The article considers some features of the system of power in Russia in the context of the post-Soviet development. The author draws the readers’ attention to the still proceeding influence of the Soviet-type political system on the modern look of the system of Russian power. The phenomenon of the presence of the “Soviet” in the system of political management is considered in the context of, on the one hand, continuity traditional mechanisms for implementation of the power member predecessors, and, on the other, features of political democracy in our country that do not have long historical traditions. The article substantiates the thesis that the phenomenon of resistance of the “Soviet” element in the post-Soviet political system of modern Russia, its impact on socio-economic and political development of Russia require close attention and in-depth analysis, a new and controversial assessment.
The article discusses the results of sociological studies demonstrating the level of cultural socialization of students. The author talks about the necessity of the participation of higher education in the process in the formation and consolidation of the cultural norms and values.
In the student movement, more than in other mass movements, it feels a kind of institutional competition for the number of participants between ownership of social organization and social movement. This competition during the exacerbation of intra- or foreign political situation gives the advantage of the movement, the more quickly and flexibly responsive to public needs and global challenges. In terms of stability, student youth prefers participation in public organizations.
The article raises the question of the interaction of business with stakeholders. This collaboration can be seen as an imperative of sustainable development. It involves a series of agreed changes, in which the exploitation of natural resources, the direction of investments, the orientation of technological development, personal development and institutional change will create a harmonious development of both society and its constituent organizations, including manufacturing.
Historical forms of the political protest in Russia, their relationship with the History of the Russian State and its impact on the modernity were reviewed in the article. The stages of development of the political protest in modern Russia were marked.
The potential of modern political protest in Russia is not beyond the acceptable one in the context of a democratic regime. With the utmost probability a political discontent can be manifested by itself in the form of meetings, demonstrations and strikes organized as required by law.
Modern advertising is a phenomenon that in some way affects the nature of the socio-cultural, political and other interactions in a society. In the article the author speaks on the modern Internet advertising in terms of a critical approach. The author analyzes the socio-cultural role of advertising in the context of modern Russian realities. The conceptual basis for the use of creative advertising is given.
Historically, the Don Cossacks have been living on the border, in the area of the frontier. Border areas, in turn, have been affecting their lives, culture and features. Don Cossacks, at the moment, act as a “divided” ethno-cultural formation. However, this does not prevent them from contacting and cooperating closely on both sides of the border.
The article discusses the historiography of two independent events in the history of Russia of the XIX century, their mutual influence on each other: Russian social thought and monastic starets that successfully developed in Optina Pustyn (Monastery). The Church and Russian thinkers used the system of spiritual education in Orthodoxy. The author of the article describes how starets influenced the views and creativity of Russian thinkers. The article shows how at certain periods of development of historical science the interaction of these phenomena is reflected in the studies of researchers.
This article is devoted to the scientific analysis of the basic concepts of ethnic theory, which allows suggesting that ethnicity is a kind of characteristic reflecting qualitative and quantitative parameters of the identification of the individual. The analysis of work on this issue has shown that while defining the “ethnicity” still there is no unanimity among both foreign and, to a lesser extent, among domestic researchers. “Ethnicity” does not yield to the artificial process of “formation - the dismantling”. It is historically and consistently emerged evolving kind of the relative stability of bio-social community of people on the basis of common anthropological and psychological attributes and values, which is symbolically expressed in the style of culture and lifestyle. Currently, the phenomenon of ethnicity has the particular importance in the political and socio-economic sphere, and, as a consequence, in science.
This article is about influence of the intercultural discourse in the interethnic relations harmonization between Russia and Georgia in the XIX c. This work outlines the role of Russian culture’s “Golden Age” in the social and mental development of Georgian society, and also about the impact of the traditions and folklore of the Georgian people on the development of Russian literature. In the article the meaning of culture as a modern factor is emphasized as the one of rapprochement of two nations, the humanistic nature of Russian and Georgian cultural heritage is shown.
The article discusses the functions of modern advertising in shaping of social practices of consumers and analyzes the role of symbolic capital in the implementation of these functions in society. The author emphasizes the fact that the function of advertising serves as a collaborative filtering in a crowded marketplace information. Advertised goods and services that got into advertising messages, thereby are given the commodity or trademark of an additional symbolic capital, which complements the symbolic capital of advertising communication channel. Advertising promotes innovative socio-cultural practices to the Russian society, which may be an additional basis of secondary socialization. In this connection, the most important determinant of perception for many customer segments, seems to be the value of symbolic capital contained in advertisements.
The author proposed to complete the list of functions of advertising established in science by now, with two additional functions: cognitive and navigational. At the same time the author believes that symbolic capital is contained in an advertised brand, in the level used in an advertising message by some VIP-persons who are prescribers for this segment.
The article is devoted to some regional peculiarities of the manufacturing of sledges and carts in the Middle Volga in the second half of XIX - early XX centuries. The article presents some factors that had an impact on the manufacturing technology and the geography of this kind of handicraft production. Long existence in a particular natural environment and cultural environment formed regional features of the manufacturing of sledges and carts in the territory of the Middle Volga region during this period. The article shows the relationship of the ethnic division of labor and production technology. Experience traditional everyday culture of the Middle Volga is of considerable interest in the study of the general laws of interaction of cultures.
The article considers the educating activity of religious organizations in Krasnoyarsk Kray among smaller peoples of the Extreme North. The research hypothesis is that Christian educating activity results in preserving the national language of these ethnic groups and spiritual and moral development of younger generations.
This article offers a technique of teaching Russian anthroponyms to foreign (Korean) students at the lessons of Russian as a foreign language at the initial stage of studying. We justify a sequence of introducing an anthropological material, which is based on the analysis of reasons why international students have difficulties in understanding and assimilation of Russian anthroponyms. We also point out the moments, which need special attention in introduction of anthropological material. We conclude that our technology allows to optimize Russian anthroponyms study and teaching.
This article is based on ethno-sociological research on the topic: “Public opinion on the role of the media in the republics of the North Caucasus Federal District of the Russian Federation” conducted in January-February 2014 in North Ossetian Centre for Social Research ISPR in conjunction with the Department of Sociology and Social North processes of Ossetian State University named after K.L. Khetagurov.
The special attention is paid to qualitative changes in the national strategic planning that has taken place during the period from the 60s of the 20th century to the present time. This publication was prepared within the framework of a research project supported by the RHSF № 15-13-02008.

In this article we claim that the Arctic becomes the focus of geopolitical interests in the modern world. Strategic interests of the most developed countries with strong economic and scientific potential are intersected. The author also reveals the basic disagreement of the Arctic countries: Russia, the USA, Canada, Norway and Denmark. This article examines the interests and main directions of development of the Arctic. Russian exploration in the region is carried out in the following areas: economic development, development of science and technology, creation of modern information and telecommunications infrastructure, ensuring environmental, and military security.
Vocal performing arts in ancient China dates back to ancient times, its history and development of vocal art are closely linked. It can be seen that the ancient Chinese art went through various historical periods of vocal development process, from its birth to the 20th century. The article focuses on observation of the various historical stages of the development of vocal art, until the period it becomes an independent art form.
The article considers the Bonapartism as a model of political power and political domination. The rule the famous dictator is studied by Jozef Pilsudski, who managed for a time to consolidate the nation and the country.
The article raises an urgent problem of immigration of foreign workers. Nowadays developed economies are more and more dependent on foreign workers’ with high qualifications. However, the main flow of migrants are unskilled labor representatives. Another contradiction is the complexity of relations between the indigenous population and immigrants. The author is looking for ways to reduce the heating of such conflicts.
Let us leave the universal mythopoeic codes and outline the range of problems in the myth of the Swedish novel of the second half of the XX century. The reflection of the dialectic of paganism and Christianity is traced, starting from the archaic prose and coming to P.Lagerkvist and E.Tunstrem. The ratio of its mythopoeic and music (by K. Levi-Strauss), the picturesque is enormous. The particular attention is paid to the image of Jesus through the eyes of the malicious characters.
The article discusses the long-term strategy of the Republic of Kazakhstan till 2050, which was declared by President N. Nazarbayev as part of his annual Address to the Nation. A particular attention is focused on the analysis of the mechanisms proposed in the Strategy for the preservation of interethnic and interreligious harmony among ethnic groups living in Kazakhstan. The Kazakh model of interethnic and inter-religious cooperation is evaluated.
