Political parties in Tuva at the present stage

The article is devoted to the analysis of one of the most important political and social institutions of the region - political parties in the Republic of Tyva at the present stage. Full-scale and extensive scientific research on political parties in Tuva today does not exist. The analysis of the high support of the party of power by the electorate of the republic during the election of deputies of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation of the VII convocation took place on September 18, 2016 in the whole of Russia on a single voting day. The data sources are statistical data of the Central Election Commission of Russia and the Republic of Tuva.

At the federal and regional elections, the electorate of the Republic is supported by the overwhelming majority of votes by the political party "United Russia" and its candidates. It should be noted that this picture is typical for most of the national republics of the Russian Federation. The Republic of Tuva and the national republics of the North Caucasus (Chechnya, Ingushetia, Kabardino-Balkarian Republic, North Ossetia and other identical regions) are among the most active regions in terms of turnout at elections of various levels and support of the ruling party. The results of the elections to the State Duma on September 18, 2016 in the context of the Republic of Tuva showed that when the voter turnout was 90.13%, the party of power received 82.61%.

The peculiarity of the electoral process in the region is due to the fact that Tuva has its own peculiar way of historical and cultural development. In the republic there was no experience of the existence of a multi-party system. For Tuva, the phenomenon of multi-party system is absolutely new. As of April 3, 2017, 19 political parties are registered in the register of registered non-profit organizations in the Republic of Tyva.
