The article is devoted to the modern doctrine of Catholicism about the nature and identity of the Church as a religious and social institution. The author concludes that modern Catholicism continues to consider its institution as the only possible church Christian organization with a global status. This interpretation creates a model of relationship between the Church and secular institutions (primarily with the state). Distancing themselves from the political, the Church, however, reserves the right to influence the secular political space.

The authors speak about their vision of inter-confessional relations in modern Russia. Positive transformations in the life of Russian society should be reflected in efficient interactions of Christian confessions and other traditional and new religions of Russia. The creation of interreligious and interconfessional cooperation requires a different view of the established models of mutual communication of confessions. A comparison of the ongoing intensification of cooperative ties between the countries of an increasingly globalized world calls for the cooperation of confessions, for the sake of upholding traditional moral values and seeking solutions of threats to the modern society.

The article deals with the problem of Open communion as an effort of church reunion. The Anglican-Orthodox dialogue is provided as a case to study, since it is the most fruitful example, when the reunion was considered as a real historical perspective. The author assumes the wholeness of the church-life regarding the so-called lex credendi, lex orandi and lex vivendi. Therefore, some possible efforts of the reunion could be implemented according to the common basements of the faith as well as the searching the common basements in the prayer. The Open communion is considered as an effort to overcome the schism through the “lex orandi”.
